Note: To compile and install SVN 1.7 you need Xcode with the Command Line Tools installed. For completeness, I outlined the full process below. Although I expanded on it, I encourage you to read the original post. To give due credit, the foundations of this post came from a post on Building SVN 1.7.

In typical lazy developer fashion, I went with updating SVN to version 1.7 for Mac OS X. Furthermore, I liked the smaller footprint of SVN 1.7. However, I had already checked out several repositories. Unfortunately Mac OS X Mountain Lion runs SVN version 1.6. After some confusion, I realized Subclipse checked out the repository using SVN version 1.7. When I ran svn commands in Terminal I received some odd messages. I downloaded the latest version of Eclipse and Subclipse for my new work Macbook Pro. Update: The Command Line Tools for Xcode 5 include SVN 1.7.10. However, volunteers have created binary packages for different distributions and platforms, and as a convenience, we maintain a list of links to them here. The Apache Subversion project does not officially endorse or maintain any binary packages of the Subversion software. Add the Subversion/bin directory to the SYSTEM PATH and reboot so all the Subversion support dll's are visible to the Apache service. The Windows explorer is not affected by this. Note: this only applies to 32-bit applications on 圆4 OS. On 圆4 versions of Windows 7 and 8, the TortoiseSVN context menu and overlays won't show for 32-bit applications in their file-open/save dialogs until you install the 2017 C-runtime for x86.
